The Gift of Thresholds: Flourishing through challenging transitions by Trevor Waldock

Amazon

ISBN: 979 8327 00366 8

Executive coach and founder of Emerging Leaders, Trevor Waldock has written a thought-provoking, challenging book about the transitional and disruptive life events, which he calls thresholds, we all face in life.

He argues, that, if embraced, thresholds can wake us up to new options and bring out our potential – to become ‘a deeper, more integrated, version of ourselves’  – which can lead to us having a more fully filled life. We can then be of more use to the world.

He suggests that when such change is necessary it can’t be ignored “if we are to keep breathing clean air into our being”.

He prompts and encourages the reader’s thinking with questions, such as: What remains in us that is unfinished? Who might we become? How do we be the best version of ourselves to flourish and to be of use to the world?

He considers the subject from many angles. There are chapters on how transitions can be difficult (they all involve a period of ‘not knowing’), why we might feel stuck and what we can gain from this, and how transitions happen when it ‘is time’ and what we require, both from within ourselves and from ‘our team’ – the people who we need by our side on this transitional journey.
